Calling all entomologists and citizens of the Cloud Forest! I photographed this moth in San Roque de Cumbaza, a small village in the cloud forest region of Peru in 2017. I was mesmerized by how it moved and its perfectly gold-trimmed opal wings. This hauntingly beautiful creature has been on my mind for the last five years and has inspired me in a lot of my designs and stories.
Has this moth been named or documented anywhere yet? Any information I gather will be added to the post.
